Your Photographer

my WELCOME TO YOU

~

Thank you for looking at what I have to offer. I love what I do, and those I do it for. Photography is more than just a photo, or a photographer. It’s about a story. A story that no one else can tell but the one in front of my lens… I just happen to be there to record it. And isn’t that the most beautiful part? We all are loved, and have someone we love. But life happens, kids grow, people change, and others leave our presence way too quickly. More importantly,  all these loved ones have stories to share. Photography has always spoken to me… so what else could I do but help record what needs to be seen, heard and remembered.  I really believe a truly good image talks beyond words. But what story is it telling? What story are YOU telling? Pick up your loved little ones, I’ll pick up my camera, and listen close because together we have the opportunity tell the most beautiful story every told.

 my EXPERIENCE

~

Yes, experience and education does matter! I’m not someone who is going to close shop in a few years because I get tired of this, or because life is too demanding. I have officially been shooting portraits for others since 2008 (that’s nearly 10 years working!). During that time, I am happy to say that nearly every single client continued to come back time after time. I work hard to take care of my clients and it shows.  I have traveled back and forth across the country mentoring and studying with some of the absolute best photographers in the industry. I am a member of NAPCP (National Association of Professional Child Photographers), WPPI (Wedding and Portrait Photographers International), and PPA (Professional Photographers Association).  I regularly attend trade shows, workshops and conferences to continue to improve and stay up to date with the newest information. I regularly send my images in to be critiqued and judged, so I can continue to get better, but also get recognized for what I am doing right. I do all of this because I care about what I do, and what I put out there. I really don’t want to ever stop learning, or creating!

my PHOTOGRAPHY

~

My photography? Fresh, simple, light, carefree, happy and HONEST.  But really,  isn’t that how it should be with kids? My family, recently relocated here from the metro-Atlanta Georgia area. We loved it there, and it was so hard to leave. With the move we also found I was pregnant with our 4th. So as you can imagine, my work has had to adapt. I took a good break, and am now ready to dive back in! With a new place and a new kids some things have changed. I have taken on less clients for the time, and have also had to introduce studio lighting into my work.  It’s actually been a lot of fun to mix things up a bit!  And as far as the kids, anything goes. You may think they are misbehaving, but I just see great pictures showing them, and all of their personality. So relax; they (and you) are in good hands.

BEHIND my NAME

~

The question I probably get asked the most is; “why Jonesy?”.  To me, Jonesy is as much my name as Diana. I grew up being called Jonesy.  In fact, it wasn’t until I went to school and started putting my first name as Jonesy on all my school work, that my parents actually decided they might need to start using my actual given name.  When asked what my name was, as a kid, I would answer “Jonesy Rae-is” (couldn’t pronounce my last name, and this was how it came out). To this day though, my parents still call me Jones. So really, what is more fitting, than Jonesy Rae as the name of my photography? Especially since my husband wouldn’t let me name one of our kids that!  Nothing reminds me of being a kid more than hearing this nickname of mine, and I love the feelings it evokes. Nostalgia, love, family, belonging and childhood all wrapped into one.

my LIFE OUTSIDE

~

Outside of photography, what am I? A wife, and a mother of now 4 amazing children. I love painting the walls in my home, decorating, organizing, and of course photography.  I’m an optimist, perfectionist, and pathetically in love when it comes to the little ones.  I get motion sick fairly easy (okay, that might be an understatement), am totally grossed out by feet, and can’t finish my cereal if someone takes a bite out of it. Oh, and yes, I’m a complete night owl, which can come in handy… until the morning time! I have been to almost all of the states in the USA, and am lucky enough to have been able to travel all over the world, including living in Paris France with the whole family for a bit.

Now that you know everything about me, I can’t wait for the chance to GET TO KNOW YOU!
